ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

The pelvic fracture in children is rare. Its incidence is 2,4-7.5% of fractures. The mechanism of injury high energy trauma. The diagnosis is made with radiographs and CT pelvis. Treatment can be conservative or surgical, according to age, classification, stability ring, concomitant injuries and hemodynamics. Most are conservative. In this study we describe the management of this condition in the HCSBA SOTI. Materials and Methods :retrospective descriptive study, of 6 patients between 2005-2014, we analyzed: sex, age, mechanism of injury, treatment received, recovery time, complications and follow. Results: 83.3 percent were female, the average age was 11.3 years, the damage occurred by: motor vehicle–pedestrian injury (50 percent), traffic accident (33.3 percent) and fall from height (16.7 percent). The treatments were: conservative (83.3 percent) and surgical (16.7 percent), the march began on average at3.6 weeks, months average follow-up was 5.1; complications were inherent to fracture. Discussion: The literature agrees with the results obtained with respect to age, mechanism of injury and treatment. As for the recovery time is not found specific time. Conclusions: The management held in this center is in line with the current evidence.

ABSTRACT

New fruit varieties are needed to satisfy consumers, and the industry is facing new challenges in order to respond to these demands. The emergence of genomic tools is releasing information on polymorphisms that can be utilized to expedite breeding processes in species that are difficult to breed, given the long periods of time required to get new varieties. The present review describes the current stages of the ongoing efforts that are being taken to apply these technologies to obtain varieties with improved fruit quality in species of the family Rosaceae.

ABSTRACT

This case concerned a female patient with a complaint of pain in the anterior region of her left knee during and after sports activities, followed by joint blockage three months ago. From imaging examinations, simple radiography of the knee was normal and magnetic resonance showed a solid expansive mass, possibly corresponding to soft-tissue chondroma or focal nodular synovitis. Arthroscopic resection of the lesion was performed, and the diagnosis of diffuse giant cell tumor resembling localized pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) was made from the result of the anatomopathological examination. The patient presented good clinical evolution, with disappearance of symptoms and return to physical activities.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Peixoto de Azevedo is located in the north of State of Mato Grosso, where environmental alterations led to an outbreak of American cutaneous leishmaniasis in the 80s. The parasite from patients was characterized as Leishmania (V.) braziliensis. The aim of this study is to contribute to the sand fly ecology of Central-West Brazil. Captures were carried out monthly using CDC light traps. Twenty-six species of sand fly were characterized; among which Lutzomyia (Lutzomyia) spathotrichia, L. runoides and L. (Psychodopygus) llanosmartinsi were recorded in the State of Mato Grosso for the first time. L. (Nyssomyia) whitmani, L. (N.) antunesi, L. (L.) spathotrichia, L. (P.) c. carrerai, L. (P.) complexa, L. (P.) lainsoni and L. (N.) umbratilis constituted 92.4 percent of the local fauna, among which L. (N.) whitmani and L. (N.) antunesi, accounting for about 53 percent of the fauna at the stations of capture. On the vertical distribution of sand flies on the Beira-Rio Farm, L. (N.) whitmani and L. (N.) antunesi prevailed at ground level and in the canopy, respectively, whereas on the BR-080, L. (P.) llanosmartinsi was prevalent on the ground and L. (P.) c. carrerai, in the canopy. It is suggested that L. (N.) umbratilis is the local vector
